AI Wearables: Your Body Has a Dashboard Now

Sophia Zhao, Partner at Alumni Ventures, provided a first-person walkthrough of what it actually felt like to wear AI all day — using six devices that tracked sleep, hormones, focus, memory, and conversation — and what the emerging wearable AI category revealed about where the next decade of consumer venture returns was forming.

See video policy below.

In this session, Sophia shared her hands-on experience wearing six of the most consequential AI wearables on the market — including AV portfolio companies Oura, an AI-enabled smart ring; Taya, an AI memory pendant; and Aircaps, AI smart glasses — alongside Meta glasses, the Neurode focus headband, and the Clair Health continuous hormone monitor. She explained how each device worked technically, from its sensors to its cloud-based intelligence, and examined the privacy tradeoffs across the category. Sophia also discussed the three-way platform competition among Meta, Google, and Apple in AI glasses and why a market projected to grow from $238 billion to $931 billion by 2035 represented one of the most consequential venture categories taking shape.

Whether you were an existing AI First Syndicate member sharpening your view of consumer AI or an accredited investor evaluating wearables for the first time, this session provided a grounded, investor-focused look at the shift from AI that knew what you typed to AI that knew how you actually felt. Watch the recording to hear directly from Sophia and learn from her responses to investor questions during the live Q&A.
