Business Insider Ranks Laura Rippy #1 Woman Early-Stage Investor

Alumni Ventures (AV), one of the most active venture capital firms in the world, announced that Managing Partner and Board Member Laura Rippy has been named the #1 Woman Early-Stage Investor of 2025 by Business Insider in its prestigious Seed 40 rankings.

In addition to topping the list of top women investors, Rippy also earned the #25 spot on Business Insider’s Seed 100 list of the “Best Early-Stage Investors” — one of only six women to appear on the all-gender ranking.

The rankings, compiled using advanced data analysis from Tribe Capital’s Termina platform, highlight early-stage investors who have demonstrated exceptional judgment in backing transformative startups across high-growth sectors such as AI, defense tech, and health innovation. Rippy previously appeared on both lists in 2024, underscoring her consistent excellence and impact in the venture world.

Rippy emphasized the importance of early-stage investors like Alumni Ventures not only providing capital, but also delivering hands-on support and hard-won experience to help founders navigate uncertainty.

Rippy leads three of Alumni Ventures’ funds: the Women’s Fund, the Green D Fund (serving the Dartmouth alumni community), and Yard Ventures (serving the Harvard alumni community). Her portfolio includes standout startups like TRM Labs, Daydream, Believer.gg, Rent App, Barnwell Bio, and Atomic Supply. She is also a frequent speaker on topics including AI and women in investing.

Based in Boston, Rippy has built one of the most robust networks of school-based founders and investors in the industry. She joined Alumni Ventures in 2017 after a 14-year tenure at private investment firm Ripplecreek Partners.
