Michael Collins

Mike has been involved in almost every facet of venturing, from angel investing to venture capital, new business and product launches, and innovation consulting. He is currently CEO of Alumni Ventures Group, the managing company for our fund, and launched AV’s first alumni fund, Green D Ventures, where he oversaw the portfolio as Managing Partner and is now Managing Partner Emeritus. Mike is a serial entrepreneur who has started multiple companies, including Kid Galaxy, Big Idea Group (partially owned by WPP), and RDM. He began his career at VC firm TA Associates. He holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Science from Dartmouth and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Carl Choi

Senior Principal, Strawberry Creek Ventures

Carl is a senior principal at Alumni Ventures and Strawberry Creek Ventures and brings more than a decade of experience in venture capital, corporate development/strategy, investment banking, and public equity investments. Previously, Carl was a principal at Solasta Ventures, responsible for enterprise software investments, including the future of work and climate tech. Earlier, Carl led strategic initiatives in creating economic opportunities for freelancers as a director of corporate strategy at Upwork, drove inorganic growth through M&As at Riverbed Technology, and spent time at J.P. Morgan in San Francisco. Hailing from Canada, Carl holds a double degree in Mathematics and Business Administration from the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, respectively, and an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas. Outside of work, Carl is an avid soccer player and a strategic board game geek.

Naren Ramaswamy
Naren Ramaswamy

Principal, Spike Ventures

Naren combines a technical engineering background with experience at startups and VC firms. Before joining AV, he worked with the investing team at venture firm Data Collective (DCVC) looking at frontier tech deals. Before that, he was a Program Manager at Apple and Tesla and has worked for multiple consumer startups. Naren received a BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In his free time, he enjoys teaching golf to beginners and composing music.

Nanea Reeves
Nanea Reeves

CEO, Founder at TRIPP, Inc.

Nanea Reeves is the Founder and CEO of TRIPP, an award-winning global XR Wellness company pioneering innovative and accessible technologies that empower people to take control of their mental and emotional well-being. Nanea brings over 15 years of experience in digital distribution, video game technologies and mobile application development. Prior to co-founding TRIPP, Nanea was President and COO of textPlus, COO of Machinima, and Chief Strategy Officer at Gaikai. Nanea was also the Senior Vice President and COO of Global Online at EA. Through her leadership at these previous companies, she’s facilitated $1.6 billion in exits.

Sly Spencer-Lee
Sly Spencer-Lee

Co-Founder, Co-CEO of Emerge

Sly Spencer Lee is a first generation Asian American entrepreneur, co-founder & co-CEO of Emerge, an LA based company building a new communication platform to bridge distance and time—by leveraging sight, sound, touch and brain activity, all powered by an emotion AI platform. He has spent a decade working in sensor fusion technologies, is a former co-founder of The Hydrous, a 3D mapping company backed by Google, Autodesk, Nat Geo and the United Nations. He grew up playing in a national acoustics laboratory where his father worked, learned soldering at age 13, and has been obsessed with consumer products and the concept of digital presence since his teens. He is co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council for Metaverse & AI, a Forbes 30 Under 30 class of 2018 recipient, a recent student of Daoism, and can be found surfing the coast of southern California some mornings.
