A Message from Your Managing Partner
Hi Community Member,
Whenever I talk to Purple Arch community members, including investors, founders, and those who just want to be activated to help and stay close to the fund, they often ask “what is your secret?” For clarity and context, they are really asking about our growth as both an organization and all the metrics that matter for a venture fund, including but not limited to assets under management (AUM), returns (paper and realized), and our consistent sourcing of promising opportunities.
Communicating as both the Founder and Managing Partner of Purple Arch, and a representative member and equity owner of the parent company, Alumni Ventures, the answer is surprisingly simple. You. The community itself. It is our differentiator and competitive advantage in every aspect of our business.
From fundraising, to deal sourcing, to advancing the initiatives of our portfolio companies, our community is at the center, effectuating positive outcomes for all the stakeholders. Over the next few months, however, I will go beyond this general declaration and share more of the specifics of what makes a great investment opportunity for Purple Arch and Alumni Ventures. I will focus on this because doing great deals is the virtuous circle of value creation at Alumni Ventures. It feeds all our flywheels.
In future posts, I will talk about our proprietary scorecard, how we source our deals, and the elements of an opportunity we fervently debate. It will be a peek inside our operations, not an analysis of our trade secrets or any of the specific techniques that make us unique. Those we will keep under lock and key.
