Lakeshore Ventures’ portfolio continues to grow! We recently added two new interesting companies to the fund, bringing us to 12 total investments. One is the developer of a technology that brings powerful machine learning from the cloud into even the tiniest devices, resulting in increased battery life, privacy, and responsiveness — along with decreased infrastructure costs. The other is a technology designed to work with cultured meat producers aiming to create beef, salmon, chicken, and other products. UChicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has been a central resource for transferring groundbreaking discoveries and ideas out of the University and into the world at-large. Three companies nurtured by the Center recently announced a string of successful exits:
- Pyxris Oncology, which announced an expected $168M IPO in October 2021
- Explorer Surgical, acquired by Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) in October 2021
- NowPow, acquired by Unite US in September 2021
