MANCHESTER, NH, MAY 31, 2024Alumni Ventures (AV), one of the world’s most active venture capital firms, is a recent investor in CarbonCapture Inc. (CarbonCapture), a leader in direct air capture (DAC) technology. AV invested in the company’s $80 million Series A led by Prime Movers Lab, with participation from Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, Aramco Ventures, and Siemens Financial Services.

CarbonCapture develops and deploys direct air capture machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Their groundbreaking modular, open-system architecture provides their systems with a very high degree of flexibility, upgradeability, and scalability — ensuring they remain state-of-the-art over time.

CarbonCapture CEO Adrian Corless recently appeared on Alumni Ventures’ Tech Optimist podcast to discuss his company’s broader efforts to tackle the pressing issue of atmospheric carbon levels and provide insights on the massive potential for the engineered carbon removal industry.

See video policy below.

“You can think about it as this horrific climate problem or you could think about it as this really incredible new industry that you have no choice — it has to emerge,” said Adrian Corless, CEO of CarbonCapture Inc., on Tech Optimist. “It’s going to be an industry that’s going to be of the order of magnitude of today’s energy industry.”

The company will soon unveil its first commercial-scale module which was designed and built at their headquarters, in the Los Angeles Arts District.

“We believe that CarbonCapture’s DAC technology at scale is going to be a huge business,” said AV Founder and CEO Mike Collins, who hosted the conversation with Corless on AV’s Tech Optimist podcast. “We’re proud to support Adrian and his team. We love the team and space.”
