AVTV features Obligo, a company helping build a better relationship between landlords and renters by offering an alternative to the traditional security deposit. AVTV videos feature Alumni Ventures’ portfolio companies sharing their stories and asks with our community.

Today we hear from Roey Dor, the Co-Founder and CEO of Obligo a platform that relieves both landlords and renters of the security deposit burden, enabling renters to pay only if their landlord has a claim. Obligo sets up a pre-authorization payment method with a tenant — similar to authorizing a hotel room deposit — and then collects an annual fee in exchange for allowing renters to keep their security deposit. This technique allows renters to keep the money that would be used as a security deposit and enables landlords to avoid the hassle of collecting and managing that deposit. In this video, Roey discusses the problem that Obligo is addressing, how the company has changed since its launch, what’s next for Obligo, and the company’s ask from the AV community.
